PERSONAL CARE ATTENDANT POLICY

A Personal Care Attendant (PCA) is defined as -someone designated or employed specifically to help the eligible person meet his/her personal needs and without whom the eligible person would not be able to ride.- According to this definition, individuals who assist persons with disabilities are only considered PCAs if they assist an eligible person who has TheHandi-Van Card with a PCA "Y" (yes) designation.

The City and County Department of Transportation Services has requested that we adhere to the following policy with regard to Personal Care Attendants:

  • EFFECTIVE IMMEDIATELY, Personal Care Attendants will only be allowed to ride TheBus free of charge if the eligible person they are assisting has TheHandi-Van Card with a PCA "Y" (yes) designation.

We apologize for any inconvenience. If you would like to apply for TheHandi-Van card with the PCA "Y" (yes) designation, please call the City Department of Transportation Services Paratransit Operations Branch at 768-8300.
