MARCH ROUTE MODIFICATIONS

EFFECTIVE MARCH 7, 2021

As directed by the City and County of Honolulu, Department of Transportation Service, the following major modifications will be implanted effective Sunday, March 7, 2021.

ROUTE 4, NUUANU – PUNAHOU – McCULLY

PILOT PROJECT

Route 4 will be restructured to provide the main line with direct routing, shortened travel times, and improved reliability through the major service areas of Nuuanu, Downtown, Makiki, University of Hawaii at Manoa, and McCully/Ala Wai.  The Old Pali Road portion will be provided by new Route 121, Nuuanu-Alapai Transit Center and the Magellan Avenue portion will be provided by new Route 122, Punchbowl-Alapai Transit Center.

Eastbound:  TheBus will travel on Kuakini, left Nuuanu Ave., left King, left into Alapai Transit Center, right Alapai, right Kinau, left Ward Ave., right Green, left onto Thurston Ave., right Wilder Ave., left Metcalf, right University Ave., on-ramp to H-1 WEST, take EXIT 24A “WILDER AVE.”, onto Wilder Ave., left Metcalf, onto McCully, right Ala Wai Blvd., left Kalakaua Ave., left Pau, left Ala Wai Blvd., and then travel right McCully.

Westbound: TheBus will travel on McCully, onto Metcalf, right Wilder Ave., left Dole, left University Ave., left Metcalf, right Wilder Ave., left Thurston Ave., right Green, left Ward Ave., right Beretania, left Punchbowl, right Queen, right Bethel, left Beretania, right Nuuanu Ave., right Pauoa, right Funchal, and then travel right Kuakini.

ROUTE 121, NUUANU – ALAPAI TRANSIT CENTER

PILOT PROJECT

Route 121, Nuuanu-Alapai Transit Center will provide service from Old Pali Road through downtown to Alapai Transit Center.

Eastbound:  TheBus will travel on Old Pali Rd., Nuuanu Pali Dr., left Pali Hwy., right Nuuanu Ave., left King, and then turn left Alapai Transit Center.

Westbound: TheBus will travel to Alapai Transit Center, right Alapai, left Beretania, left Punchbowl, right Queen, right Bethel, left Beretania, right Nuuanu Ave., take on-ramp to Pali Hwy., Pali Hwy., right Nuuanu Pali Dr., left Old Pali Rd., and then turn left Mamalahoa Pl.   

ROUTE 122, PUNCHBOWL – ALAPAI TRANSIT CENTER

PILOT PROJECT

Route 122, Punchbowl-Alapai Transit Center will provide service from Alapai Transit Center to Magellan Avenue via Queen’s Medical Center and to Kakaako.

Eastbound:  TheBus will travel on Beretania, left Bishop, left Queen, right Punchbowl, left Pohukaina, left South, right King, and then turn left Alapai Transit Center.

Westbound: TheBus will travel from Alapai Transit Center, right Alapai, onto Lunalilo, left Lusitana, right circular turnaround, left Lusitana, left onto Kinau, left Ward Ave., left Lunalilo, onto Captain Cook Ave., onto Magellan Ave., left Iolani Ave., left Queen Emma, left Vineyard Blvd., right Punchbowl, and then turn right Beretania to Beretania/Punchbowl.

 ROUTE 67, HONOLULU – KAILUA – WAIMANALO

Route 67 will be modified in the westbound direction to minimize passenger wait time on the bus during the layover in Waimanalo.

Eastbound:  No change.

Westbound: TheBus will travel regular westbound route to Kalanianaole/Nakini, right Nakini, left Huli, and then turn right Kalanianaole.

ROUTE 69, KANEOHE – WAIMANALO – SEA LIFE PARK

Route 69 will be modified in the eastbound direction to the terminus in Waimanalo.

Eastbound:  Kawa/Mehana to Kalanianaole/Nalu – TheBus will travel the regular eastbound route toKalanianaole Hwy/Nakini, right Nakini, left Huli, and then turn right Kalanianaole Hwy.

Eastbound:  Kawa/Mehana to Nakini/Ala Koa – TheBus will travel the regular eastbound route to Kalanianaole Hwy/Nakini, right Nakini, left Huli, right Kalanianaole Hwy, right Nalu, left Huli, and then turn right Nakini. 

Westbound: No change.
