ONIPA’A COMMEMORATION AND PEACE MARCH

 

 

The ONIPA’A COMMEMORATION AND PEACE MARCH will be held on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 17, 2024, from 9:30 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. The procession will start at Mauna’ala Royal Mausoleum, left onto Nuuanu, continuing to Beretania, left onto one makai lane of Beretania, right into the Kokohead lane of Richards, left onto one mauka lane of King, and finish at the Iolani Palace. HPD will close the makai travel lanes of Nuuanu Avenue, from Wyllie Street to Beretania Street.  Approximately 7,000 walkers are expected to participate in this event. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

AFFECTED AREAS:

No eastbound service on Nuuanu Avenue, between Pali Highway and King Street, and westbound service between Pauoa Road and Pali Highway.

Buses will DETOUR as outlined below:

 

ROUTE 4, NUUANU-PUNAHOU-McCULLY

 

Eastbound:    From the temporary terminus nearside of Kuakini/Nuuanu, TheBus will travel right Nuuanu, right Pauoa, right Funchal, onto Pali Hwy, continue on Pali, onto Bishop, left King, rand then resume the regular route.

 

Westbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to Nuuanu/Pauoa, right Pauoa, right Funchal, onto Pali Hwy, right Kuakini to the temporary terminus nearside of Kuakini/Nuuanu.

 

 

ROUTE 151, CHINATOWN-KUAKINI-KAULUWELA

 

Eastbound:    No detour. However, HPD will assist at Kuakini/Nuuanu crossing and at School/Nuuanu intersection.

 

Westbound: No detour. However, HPD will assist at Vineyard/Nuuanu crossing and at Pali/Beretania intersection.
