SHINNYO-EN LANTERN FLOATING CEREMONY

 

The SHINNYO-EN LANTERN FLOATING CEREMONY will be held on MONDAY, MAY 26, 2025, at Ala Moana Beach Park.  Ala Moana Boulevard will close in both directions between Piikoi Street and Hobron Lane around 6:00 p.m.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.  This event is expected to have more than 40,000 people. 

 

AFFECTED ROUTES:

6, 20, 42, 60, 65, 67, & E

AFFECTED AREA:

No service on Ala Moana Boulevard in both directions between Piikoi Street and Hobron Lane.

TIME:

From 6:00 p.m. to 9:30 p.m., unless directed by Police.

 

Buses will DETOUR as outlined below:

 

ROUTE 6, PAUOA-WOODsLAWN

 

Eastbound:    TheBus will travel the regular route to Auahi/Kamakee, left Kamakee, right Queen, onto Waimanu, left Piikoi, right Kona, and then resume the regular route.

 

Westbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kona/Mahukona, left Mahukona, left Kapiolani, left Kamakee, right Auahi, and then resume the regular route.

 

 

ROUTE 20, WAIKIKI-ALOHA STADIUM

ROUTE 42, EWA BEACH-WAIKIKI

Eastbound:    TheBus will travel the regular route to Ala Moana/Piikoi, left Piikoi, right Kapiolani, right Kalakaua, left Kuhio, and then resume the regular route.

 

Westbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kuhio/Olohana, continue on Kuhio, onto Kalakaua [(TheBus will not service Kalakaua/Kapiolani (stop #33)], left Kapiolani [(TheBus will not service Kapiolani/Kalakaua (stop #3052)], left Kamakee, right Ala Moana and then resume the regular route.

 

ROUTE 60, HONOLULU-KANEOHE-HALEIWA

ROUTE 65, HONOLULU-KANEOHE-AHUIMANU

ROUTE 67, HONOLULU-KAILUA-WAIMANALO

 

Eastbound:    No detour. 

 

Westbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kona/Mahukona, left Mahukona, left Kapiolani, left Kamakee, right Ala Moana and then resume the regular route.

 

ROUTE E, COUNTRY EXPRESS! E

 

Eastbound:    TheBus will travel the regular route to Kapiolani/Kamakee, continue on Kapiolani, right Kalakaua, left Kuhio, and then resume the regular route.

 

Westbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kuhio/Olohana, continue on Kuhio, onto Kalakaua [(TheBus will not service Kalakaua/Kapiolani (stop #33)], left Kapiolani [(TheBus will not service Kapiolani/Kalakaua (stop #3052)], and then resume the regular route after passing Kamakee.
