Q:  Can I still pay cash on TheBus?

 

A:  Yes!  We welcome cash payments on all city buses.  However, we strongly suggest that all riders get their HOLO card to take full advantage of all the wonderful features.  Coming soon, only HOLO card riders will be able to receive free transfer privileges, as well as daily, monthly, and annual fare capping.

 

Q:  I have an annual pass that has not expired. Do I need to get a HOLO

card now?

 

A:  No, your paid annual pass is still valid and can be used until it expires. When you

renew your pass, it will be replaced with a HOLO card.

 

 

Q:  After 7/1/2021, can I still buy a paper monthly bus pass or monthly bus pass

sticker?

 

A:  No, the paper monthly bus pass and monthly bus pass stickers will no longer be

available as of 7/1/2021.  You may purchase and load a monthly pass on your HOLO card.

 

Q:  Where can I get a HOLO card?

·         Adult HOLO cards will be available at the Transit Pass Office at Kalihi Transit Center, select Satellite City Halls, and at select retail locations. Please visit www.holocard.net for a list of retail locations.

·         Senior HOLO cards are available at the Transit Pass Office at Kalihi Transit Center and select Satellite City Halls. Government issued photo ID is required for age verification.

·         Disability HOLO cards are available at the Transit Pass Office at Kalihi Transit Center.  A completed Disability application and a government issued photo ID is required.

·         Youth HOLO cards are available at the Transit Pass Office at Kalihi Transit Center, select Satellite City Halls, and at www.thebus.org.  State of Hawaii ID, Driver’s License/Permit, Student ID, Birth Certificate, or Passport is required for age verification.  A parent may apply for their child’s youth pass with a government issued photo ID and their child’s form of ID.

Q:  What is fare capping?

 

A:  A fare cap is the maximum amount charged for the time specified.

Q:  How does the HOLO Transfer work?  (Coming Soon!!!)

 

A: After a fare is paid with a HOLO card, no additional fares will be deducted for

    additional rides on the bus within a two and a half hour period.
