KAILUA 4TH OF JULY PARADE 

The KAILUA 4TH OF JULY PARADE will be held on SATURDAY, JULY 4, 2015.  The parade will start at Kainalu/Palapu, proceed along Kainalu Drive, and end at Kailua Intermediate School.  This event will have 200 marchers, 40 vehicles, 40 floats, and 4 bands. 

AFFECTED AREA:

No service along Kuulei Road and N. Kalaheo Avenue. Board buses on Oneawa Street and Mokapu Boulevard.

Buses will DETOUR as outlined below:   

ROUTE 70, LANIKAI-MAUNAWILI 

10:25 A.M. WB Trip From Lanikai Only:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kailua/Kuulei, then continue across the intersection onto Oneawa, right Mokapu, and then resume the regular route onto MCBH.  After leaving MCBH, TheBus will travel the regular route to Mokapu/Kalaheo, continue on Mokapu, left Oneawa, right Kailua, and then resume the regular route.

                                         


4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS CELEBRATION 

The annual 4TH OF JULY FIREWORKS CELEBRATION will be held on SATURDAY, JULY 4, 2015, at Ala Moana Beach Park.  This event is expected to have 55,000-60,000 people in attendance.  Ala Moana Boulevard will be closed between Piikoi and Hobron in both directions at approximately 8 p.m. and is scheduled to be reopened about forty five minutes after completion of the show.   

All bus stops along the detour route will be serviced. 

AFFECTED AREA:

No service in both directions on Ala Moana Boulevard between Piikoi and Hobron.

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kapiolani/Kona Iki, continue on Kapiolani, right Kalakaua, and then resume the regular route after passing Saratoga. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kalia/Ala Moana, continue onto Ena, left Kalakaua, left Kapiolani, and then resume the regular route after passing Piikoi. 


First Friday Event – July 3, 2015

The FIRST FRIDAY EVENT in Downtown Honolulu will be held on FRIDAY, JULY 3, 2015.  All City buses will be DETOURED off Hotel Street between Richards Street and the River Street Bridge starting at 7:30 p.m. until the last scheduled bus operating on Hotel Street.  Traffic barricades will be set up at Hotel/Alakea, Hotel/River, and the River Street Bridge to restrict traffic.  The last “THROUGH BUS” connections will be at the King/Beretania Junction bus stop for eastbound connections and the Beretania/Pali bus stop for westbound connections. Initial closure will begin at 7:30 p.m. and the re-opening at approximately 2:00 a.m. 

AFFECTED AREA:

No service on Hotel Street from River to Richards.  Bus riders may board buses on King or Beretania.

Beginning FRIday, JUNE 26, 2015, Farrington Highway will be open from Old Fort Weaver Road to Kualakai Parkway.

Beginning SUNday, JUNE 28, 2015 to FRIday, JULY 10, 2015, Farrington Highway will be closed eastbound Fort Weaver to Kunia Road, and both directions on Fort Weaver from Kunia Road to Laulaunui, Sunday to Thursday, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m.

No service east on Farrington Highway from Fort Weaver to Kunia Road, and both directions on Fort Weaver from Kunia Road to Laulaunui.

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Farrington/Old Fort Weaver, left Weaver, right Old Fort Weaver, left Farrington, and then resume the regular route. 

ROUTE 44, WAIPAHU-EWA BEACH 

Eastbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Fort Weaver/Aawa (Opposite Old Fort Weaver), continue on Fort Weaver, right EXIT 5 EAST WAIPAHU, onto Farrington, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound: No detour.

 


 INDEPENDENCE DAY HOLIDAY

INDEPENDENCE DAY will be observed on FRIDAY, JULY 3, 2015.  All City bus routes including Community Access Services will operate their SUNDAY SCHEDULES.

·       All express bus routes are CANCELLED except Routes A, C, E, W1, W2, and W3, which will operate their SUNDAY SCHEDULES. 

 


TRAFFIC ADVISORY – FARRINGTON AT WAIAWA

 

Beginning SATURday, JUNE 13 2015, for approximately one week, Department of Transportation will be closing the left lane after the exit from the Leeward College bus stop #493 westbound.

 

AFFECTED AREA:

Westbound Farrington Highway at Waiawa.

DATE:

Beginning Saturday, June 13, 2015 for approximately one week.

TIME:

From 8:00 a.m., and 24 hours thereafter.

NO DETOURS will be necessary.


KONA STREET CLOSURE

Beginning THURSday, May 7, 2015, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, the eastbound lanes of Kona Street will be closed from Keeaumoku Street to Atkinson Drive from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday to Thursday due to construction.  Eastbound traffic on Kona Street will be detoured onto Keeaumoku Street.   TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.  

AFFECTED AREA:

No eastbound service on Kona Street from Keeaumoku Street to Atkinson Drive.

Beginning Thursday, May 7, 2015, until further notice.

From Sunday through Thursday 10:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M.

ROUTE 6, PAUOA-WOODLAWN (ALA MOANA KEYS ONLY)

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kona/Kona Iki, left Kona Iki, right Kapiolani, right Keeaumoku, right Kona to the temporary stop/terminus prior to Kona Iki. 

Westbound:  From the temporary stop/terminus at Kona/Kona Iki, right Kona Iki, right Kapiolani, right Atkinson, and then resume the regular route after passing Mahukona.

ROUTE 8, WAIKIKI-ALA MOANA

Eastbound:   Regular route to Kona/Kona Iki, left Kona Iki, right Kapiolani, right Atkinson, and then resume the regular route after passing Mahukona.

 LEFT TURN FROM FARRINGTON ONTO MOKUOLA CLOSURE 

 

Beginning MONDAY, MAY 4, 2015, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, Kiewit Construction will be doing roadwork associated with the rail project at the intersection of Farrington/Mokuola.  The left turn from Farrington onto Mokuola will be closed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Beginning Sunday May 3, 2015, for approximately 4 months, Kiewit Construction will be doing roadwork associated with the rail project at the intersection of Farrington/Waiawa.  Eastbound traffic will be diverted onto the westbound lanes, which will require the closure of the westbound stop at Farrington/Waiawa (Leeward Community College).  Passengers desiring to transfer to westbound buses should transfer at Acacia.

Farrington Highway at Waiawa.

(SUNDAY ONLY)

Eastbound:  From 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., TheBus will travel the regular route to Waimano Home/Kuala, right Kuala, left Acacia, left Kamehameha.

Last eastbound trip: TheBus will travel the regular route to Waimano Home/Kamehameha, right Kamehameha, right Acacia, right Kuala to the Pearl City Bus Facility. 

Westbound:  No detour. 

ROUTE 62, HONOLULU-WAHIAWA 

Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to Kamehameha Hwy/Waipahu Street, right Waipahu, left Kahuanui, left Kahualii, left Farrington, continue on Farrington traveling in the far left lane to enter the crossover into the westbound lanes, right Waiawa, left Farrington, and then resume the regular route.

Beginning MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2015, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, Route E eastbound will be detoured to service the bus stops at Kona/Keeaumoku (opposite Nordstrom) #760, Mahukona/Atkinson #427 and Ala Moana Boulevard/Atkinson #883.
