The HIBISCUS HALF MARATHON, sponsored by The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society/Boca Hawaii, will be held on Sunday May 26, 2013. Approximately 800 runners are expected to participate in this event, starting at 6:00 a.m. from the mauka lanes of Kalakaua Avenue, fronting the Tennis Courts. City Buses on the following routes will DETOUR from approximately 5:45 a.m. to approximately 9:30 a.m., or when directed by the Police. The race course is as follows:

Route 1, Kaimuki-Kalihi Eastbound: No detour. Westbound: No detour. Route 8, Waikiki-Ala Moana Route 42, Ewa Beach-Waikiki Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to the Monsarrat Avenue/Kalakaua Avenue split medial strip. TheBus will temporarily layover on the split area at the beginning of Monsarrat Avenue before the regular terminus until the regular terminus is re-opened again. Westbound: TheBus will travel from the temporary terminus on the Monsarrat Avenue/Kalakaua Avenue split medial strip, proceed mauka on Monsarrat Avenue, servicing the first bus stop outside of the coned off right lane. Route 14, St. Louis-Kahala-Maunalani Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to the Poni Moi Avenue/Paki Avenue/Diamond Head Road intersection DETOUR left Paki Avenue, right Monsarrat Avenue, onto Diamond Head Road, left Makapuu Avenue, right Kilauea Avenue, left Pahoa Avenue, and then resume the regular route. Westbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to the Kilauea Avenue/Pueo Street intersection. WAIT for HPD to allow bus to turn left onto Pueo Street. Resume regular route west along Kahala Avenue and Diamond Head Road and Paki Avenue, and then resume the regular route to St. Louis Heights. NOTE: The runners should be running on the makai side/mauka bound lanes of Kahala Avenue and Diamond Head Lookout Road. Route 19, Waikiki-Airport-Hickam Route 20, Waikiki-Pearlridge Eastbound: No detours. Note: Possible Traffic Delays at the Poni Moi Street/Paki Avenue intersection at the 6:00 a.m. start of the race and when runners are running back to Kapiolani Park. Westbound: No detours. Route 22, Beach Bus Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to the Poni Moi Street/Paki Avenue/Diamond Head Road intersection. DETOUR left Paki Avenue, right Monsarrat Avenue, onto Diamond Head Road, left Makapuu Avenue, right Kilauea Avenue to the Kilauea Avenue/Waialae Avenue access roadway east. If the designated right turn lane is coned off for the runners, TheBus will DETOUR by continuing mauka on Kilauea Avenue crossing over Waialae Avenue, right Malia Street, right Ainakoa Avenue, left Kalanianaole Highway, and then resume the regular route. Westbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to the Kilauea Avenue/Pueo Street intersection. WAIT for HPD to allow bus to turn left onto Pueo Street. Resume regular route west along Kahala Avenue and Diamond Head Road and Paki Avenue, and then resume the regular route. Route 23, Hawaii Kai-Sea Life Park Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route along Monsarrat Avenue, servicing the Kapiolani Park bus stops outside of the coned off right lane. East on Monsarrat Avenue, onto Diamond Head Road, left 18th Avenue, right Kilauea Avenue to the Kilauea Avenue/Waialae Avenue access roadway east. If the designated right turn lane is coned off for the runners, TheBus will DETOUR by continuing mauka on Kilauea Avenue crossing over Waialae Avenue, right Malia Street, right Ainakoa Avenue, left Kalanianaole Highway, and then resume the regular route. Westbound: No detour. Route 24, Kapahulu-Aina Haina Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route along Monsarrat Avenue, servicing the Kapiolani Park bus stops outside of the coned off right lane. East on Monsarrat Avenue, onto Diamond Head Road, left 18th Avenue, right Kilauea Avenue to the Kilauea Avenue/Waialae Avenue access roadway east. If the designated right turn lane is coned off for the runners, TheBus will DETOUR by continuing mauka on Kilauea Avenue crossing over Waialae Avenue, right Malia Street, right Ainakoa Avenue, left Kalanianaole Highway, and then resume the regular route. The following Route 52, Honolulu-Mililani-Haleiwa DETOUR in Wahiawa/Haleiwa Town area will remain in effect until further notice. The City's Department of Transportation Services/Public Transit Division is currently evaluating a PERMANENT routing for this area of travel. ROUTES 62 AND 72, MACOMB GATE TEMPORARY CLOSURE Starting Wednesday, January 2, 2013, through Saturday, June 1, 2013, Macomb Gate entering Schofield Barracks will be temporarily CLOSED due to construction for a traffic round-about. This closure will be 24/7 entering the gate. However, plans are to keep the gate available for outbound traffic to exit. Also, the gate hours for McNair Gate will be temporarily revised to 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.
