Traffic Advisory –

TROY BARBOZA LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN 

The TROY BARBOZA LAW ENFORCEMENT TORCH RUN will be held on FRIDAY, MAY 29, 2015, at 6:30 p.m.  There will be approximately 1,000 participants.  The run will start at Fort DeRussy Park and end at the Les Murakami Stadium.  The runners/ walkers will be escorted by HPD.  All cross streets along the route will be closed progressively until all participants have cleared the area. 

AFFECTED AREA:

The run will travel along Kalia Road, Ala Moana Boulevard, Kalakaua Avenue, Kapahulu Avenue, Old Waialae Road, and Kalei Road.

TIME:

From 6:30 p.m. to 8:30 p.m.

NO DETOURS will be necessary.

 


HIBISCUS HALF MARATHON 

The HIBISCUS HALF MARATHON will be held on SUNDAY, MAY 24, 2015. There will be approximately 1,500 runners participating in the event.  The race will begin on Kalakaua Avenue in front of the Bandstand, proceed onto Monsarrat, onto Paki, then through the Diamond Head, Kahala, and Aina Haina areas, returning to finish near the Bandstand.   

HPD will be directing traffic at various locations.  TheBus will service the stops from the thru traffic lane nearest the coned area where necessary.  

AFFECTED AREA:

Abbreviated service in the Kapiolani Park, Diamond Head, Kahala, and Aina Haina areas.

ROUTE 1, KAIMUKI-KALIHI

Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to Waialae/Kilauea, left Kilauea, right Malia, right Ainakoa, left Kalanianaole, and then resume the regular route.

 

Westbound:  No Detour.

ROUTE E, COUNTRY EXPRESS

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to the Monsarrat/Kalakaua split. There will be a temporary layover along the split area at the start of the event until the regular terminus is re-opened. 

Westbound:   No detour.

ROUTE 8, WAIKIKI-ALA MOANA

ROUTE 42, EWA BEACH-WAIKIKI 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to the Monsarrat/Kalakaua split. There will be a temporary layover along the split area at the start of the event until the regular terminus is re-opened.

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kalakaua/Poni Moi intersection, left Poni Moi, left Paki, right Monsarrat, onto Diamond Head, left Paikau, left Kahala, and then resume the regular route. (HPD to direct traffic at Kalakaua/Poni Moi and Paikau.)

Westbound:  No detour.

ROUTE 23, HAWAII KAI-SEA LIFE PARK

ROUTE 24, KAPAHULU-AINA HAINA 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kilauea/Waialae, continue on Kilauea, right Malia, right Ainakoa, left Kalanianaole, and then resume the regular route.

Westbound:  No detour.

 


MEMORIAL DAY HOLIDAY 

MEMORIAL DAY will be observed on MONDAY, MAY 25, 2015.  All City bus routes including Community Access Services will operate their SUNDAY SCHEDULES. 

REMINDERS 

  • All express bus routes are CANCELLED except Routes A, C, E, W1, W2 and W3, which will operate their SUNDAY SCHEDULES.

  • Supplementary Route 15 buses will be provided for the annual Mayor’s Memorial Day Service at Punchbowl.

 


KONA STREET CLOSURE

Beginning THURSday, May 7, 2015, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, the eastbound lanes of Kona Street will be closed from Keeaumoku Street to Atkinson Drive from 10:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m. Sunday to Thursday due to construction.  Eastbound traffic on Kona Street will be detoured onto Keeaumoku Street.   TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.  

AFFECTED AREA:

No eastbound service on Kona Street from Keeaumoku Street to Atkinson Drive.

Beginning Thursday, May 7, 2015, until further notice.

TIME:

From Sunday through Thursday 10:00 P.M. to 5:00 A.M.

ROUTE 5, ALA MOANA-MANOA

Eastbound:   No detour. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Keeaumoku/Kona, right Kona to the temporary stop/terminus prior to Kona Iki.

ROUTE 6, PAUOA-WOODLAWN (ALA MOANA KEYS ONLY)

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kona/Kona Iki, left Kona Iki, right Kapiolani, right Keeaumoku, right Kona to the temporary stop/terminus prior to Kona Iki. 

Westbound:  From the temporary stop/terminus at Kona/Kona Iki, right Kona Iki, right Kapiolani, right Atkinson, and then resume the regular route after passing Mahukona.

ROUTE 8, WAIKIKI-ALA MOANA

Eastbound:   Regular route to Kona/Kona Iki, left Kona Iki, right Kapiolani, right Atkinson, and then resume the regular route after passing Mahukona.

Westbound:  No detour.

ROUTE 55, HONOLULU-KANEOHE-HALEIWA

ROUTE E, COUNTRY EXPRESS

Eastbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kapiolani/Pensacola, continue on Kapiolani, right Atkinson, left Ala Moana and then resume the regular route.

 LEFT TURN FROM FARRINGTON ONTO MOKUOLA CLOSURE 

 

Beginning MONDAY, MAY 4, 2015, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, Kiewit Construction will be doing roadwork associated with the rail project at the intersection of Farrington/Mokuola.  The left turn from Farrington onto Mokuola will be closed 24 hours a day, 7 days a week.

Farrington Highway at Mokuola.

FARRINGTON AT WAIAWA CONTRA-FLOW 

 

Beginning Sunday May 3, 2015, for approximately 4 months, Kiewit Construction will be doing roadwork associated with the rail project at the intersection of Farrington/Waiawa.  Eastbound traffic will be diverted onto the westbound lanes, which will require the closure of the westbound stop at Farrington/Waiawa (Leeward Community College).  Passengers desiring to transfer to westbound buses should transfer at Acacia.

 

AFFECTED AREA:

Farrington Highway at Waiawa.

Beginning Sunday May 3, 2015, for approximately 4 months.

Eastbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Farrington/Kahualii, continue on Farrington traveling in the far left lane to enter the crossover into the westbound lanes, right Waiawa, left Farrington, and then resume the regular route.

ROUTE 53, HONOLULU-PACIFIC PALISADES

(SUNDAY ONLY)

Eastbound:  From 8:00 p.m. to 11:00 p.m., TheBus will travel the regular route to Waimano Home/Kuala, right Kuala, left Acacia, left Kamehameha.

Last eastbound trip: TheBus will travel the regular route to Waimano Home/Kamehameha, right Kamehameha, right Acacia, right Kuala to the Pearl City Bus Facility. 

Westbound:  No detour. 

ROUTE 62, HONOLULU-WAHIAWA 

Eastbound: TheBus will travel the regular route to Kamehameha Hwy/Waipahu Street, right Waipahu, left Kahuanui, left Kahualii, left Farrington, continue on Farrington traveling in the far left lane to enter the crossover into the westbound lanes, right Waiawa, left Farrington, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound: No detour.

 


ROUTE E DETOUR – KONA STREET

Beginning MONDAY, APRIL 20, 2015, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, Route E eastbound will be detoured to service the bus stops at Kona/Keeaumoku (opposite Nordstrom) #760, Mahukona/Atkinson #427 and Ala Moana Boulevard/Atkinson #883.

WOODLAWN DRIVE ROAD CONSTRUCTION 

BEGINNING TUESDAY, MARCH 10, 2015, Alani Drive/ Woodlawn Drive will be closed between Alani Drive/Nanihale Place and Woodlawn Drive/Alani Drive due to construction.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.
