The LANIKAI 8K will be held on SUNDAY, NOVEMBER 27, 2022, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  This event is expected to have 150 runners and will begin at the Lanikai Monument on Mokulua Drive, onto Aalapapa Drive bike path (two counter clockwise loops), and ending at Kailua Beach boat ramp.

HAWAII KAI HOLIDAY PARADE

The HAWAII KAI HOLIDAY PARADE will be held on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2022. The event is expected to have 1200 marchers, 30 vehicles, & 3 bands.  The parade will begin at Kamiloiki Elementary School and proceed onto Hawaii Kai Drive, onto Lunalilo Home Road and end at Koko Marina Shopping Center. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

ROUTE 23, ALA MOANA-SEA LIFE PARK

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Hawaii Kai Park and Ride after servicing the Park and Ride, right Keahole, left Kalanianaole, left Lunalilo, and then resume the regular route after crossing Wailua.

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Hawaii Kai/Ahukini, left Ahukini, left Lunalilo Home Rd. into the contra-flow lane, (does not service Lunalilo Home stops in the contra flow lane) right Kalanianaole, right Keahole, left into the Hawaii Kai Park and Ride, and then resume the regular route.


TRAFFIC ADVISORY – TURTLE BAY TRIATHLON 

The TURTLE BAY TRIATHLON will be held on SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 26, 2022. This event is expected to have 200 participants and will begin at the Turtle Bay Resort. The triathlon will proceed eastbound onto Kamehameha Highway towards Laie, cyclists will then u-turn at Hukilau Beach Park to continue back to the ending point at Turtle Bay Resort. Throughout the duration of this event, there will be no lane closures.

WAIKIKI HOLIDAY PARADE 

The WAIKIKI HOLIDAY PARADE will be held on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 25, 2022. The parade will begin at Fort DeRussy, proceed along Kalakaua Avenue, onto Monsarrat Avenue, and terminate at the Kapiolani Park Bandstand parking lot. During the parade, there will be no westbound service on Kalia Road. All westbound passengers will be boarded and directed to transfer to their desired westbound routes on Ala Moana Boulevard/Ena Road. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kapahulu/Ala Wai, right Ala Wai, left Ohua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Leahi,  right Monsarrat, left Paki, right Kalakaua to make a left U-turn at Dillingham Fountain, left Kalakaua, and then resume the regular route.

ROUTE 20, WAIKIKI-AIRPORT-PEARLRIDGE 

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kalia/U.S. Army Museum driveway, right counter-clockwise into U.S. Army Museum driveway, service temporary bus stop inside circle, exit left Kalia, right Ala Moana, right Kalakaua, left Kuhio, left Kapahulu, right Herbert, left Campbell, left Kapahulu, left Paki, right Kalakaua to make a left U-turn at Dillingham Fountain, left Kalakaua, and then resume the regular route east to the Paki/Monsarrat terminus. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Kuhio/Olohana, continue on Kuhio, onto Kalakaua, right Pau, left Ala Wai, left Niu, onto Ala Moana, and then resume the regular route after crossing Ena. 

ROUTE 23, ALA MOANA-SEA LIFE PARK

Traffic Advisory – HOMEWARD BOUND 5K RUN/WALK 

The HOMEWARD BOUND 5K RUN/WALK will be held on THURSDAY, NOVEMBER 24, 2022, from 7:00 a.m. to 9:30 a.m.  The run will start on Manoa Road, proceed through the Manoa area, and finish at the Manoa Valley Recreation Center.  Approximately 500 runners are expected to participate.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – FULL CLOSURE WESTBOUND ON FARRINGTON HIGHWAY AT MAIPALAOA BRIDGE 

Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) will be utilizing a full closure westbound of Farrington Highway in the direction between Maipalaoa Road and Manununu Street, on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2022, AND WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 23, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:00 p.m. During the closure hours, traffic will be contraflowed in the eastbound lanes allowing for one lane open in each direction.

The Maipalaoa Bridge Replacement project will affect the traffic flow through the area and will cause delays throughout the duration of the work.

HECO will be conducting utility work and will be closing a portion of Kilauea Avenue between 11th Avenue and 12th Avenue.  The bus stops located at 9th Avenue / Maunaloa Avenue (stop #3333), Kilauea Avenue / 9th Avenue (stop #3332), Kilauea Avenue / 10th Avenue (stop #3331), Kilauea Avenue / 10th Avenue (stop #3303) and Kilauea Avenue / 12th Avenue (stop #3305), will be closed on TUESDAY, NOVEMBER 22, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.  Passengers may board buses at portables located at the intersections of Maunaloa Avenue / 9th Avenue, Maunaloa Avenue / 10th Avenue or at 12th Avenue / Kilauea Avenue.  TheBus will service all stops along the detour route.

THE ROYAL TRIBUTE TO HAWAII’S SOVEREIGN will hold its third procession march on FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2022, from 11:00 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.  This event is expected to have 200 participants.  The walk will start at Iolani Palace Grounds, right onto Richard Street, crossover Beretania Street to proceed west along curb lane and sidewalk, turn right onto Nuuanu Avenue, and will end at Mauna’ala Royal Mausoleum. This event will be utilizing the sidewalks and curb lanes along its route.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Kamehameha Highway Road CLOSURE

 

Due to ongoing rail work at the Middle Street Rail Station, there will be a full eastbound closure to the Dillingham Boulevard off ramp on WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 2, 2022, THROUGH WEDNESDAY, NOVEMBER 30, 2022 from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m. All eastbound traffic from the H-1 Freeway will be diverted onto Middle Street and the Dillingham Boulevard access ramp from Nimitz Highway, will be diverted onto Nimitz Highway. TheBus will service any stops along the detour route.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – HEEIA STREAM BRIDGE STREET LIGHT IMPROVEMENTS 

The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) will be conducting upgrades to the Heʻeia Stream Bridge. The construction work will start at 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, on OCTOBER 25, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. The work crews will begin making modifications to the bridge to install new streetlights. The roadway will remain open during the construction work.

KILAHA STREET ROAD CLOSURE 

GRACE PACIFIC, LLC is scheduled to complete the raised intersection work at the Fort Weaver Road / Kilaha Street intersection, and will be closing down Kilaha Street between Fort Weaver Road and North Road.  The bus stops located at Kilaha Street / Kilipoe Street (stop #1808), North Road / Campbell High School (stop #1807), and North Road / Fort Weaver Road (stop #1088), will be closed from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., on MONDAY, OCTOBER 24, 2022.  Traffic will be diverted off of Kilaha Street onto Kilipoe Street and North Road.  Passengers may board buses at Fort Weaver Road / Kilaha Street (stop #3726) and Fort Weaver Road / opposite Moneha Place (stop #1089).  TheBus will service all bus stop along detour route.

ALLIED BUILDERS SYSTEM will be closing down Kekahili Street for utility work  from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Mondays through Fridays, starting on MONDAY, OCTOBER 17, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  Traffic will be diverted off of Kekahili Street onto Kamokuiki Street in both directions.

The Department of Facility Maintenance (DFM) will partially close lanes on Dillingham Boulevard, between North King Street and Kokea Street to perform necessary pavement repairs.  The project work will be conducted Mondays through Fridays, starting on MONDAY, OCTOBER 3, 2022, THROUGH FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2022, from 8:30 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

FARRINGTON HIGHWAY RESURFACING PROJECT 

GRACE PACIFIC LLC, will be conducting a resurfacing project for the State on Farrington Highway. The eastbound curb lane on Farrington Highway will be closed from Kahe Power Plant to Kalaeloa Boulevard. Therefore, the ‘EXIT 1A ‘CAMPBELL INDUSTRIAL PARK / BARBERS POINT HARBOR’ will be closed on THURSDAY, SEPTEMBER 1, 2022, from 7:00 p.m. to 4:15 a.m.  All eastbound traffic will be detoured onto ‘EXIT 1B “MAKAKILO / KAPOLEI / KALAELOA”. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – FARRINGTON HIGHWAY DRAINAGE IMPROVEMENTS

INTEGRATED CONSTRUCTION, INC will be conducting work to install drainage improvements along Farrington Highway, between Waiawa Road and Acacia Road for the Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), from 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., starting on MONDAY, JUNE 13, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  This drainage improvement project will affect the traffic flow through the area and will cause delays throughout the duration of the work.

TRAFFIC ADVISORY – H-1 FREEWAY ON-RAMP CLOSURE FROM HONOLULU AIRPORT

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT), Highways Division, will be conducting full nightly closures of the westbound and eastbound on-ramps from the Daniel K. Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Airport Upper Level, proceed down ramp to Paiea, continue on Paiea, right Nimitz, left Puuloa, right Pukoloa, left Ahua, right Kikowaena access road to H-1 EAST, onto King St, right Middle, left Kalihi Transit Center, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  No detour.

 


ADVISORY – UTILITY WORK ON ALAKEA STREET

Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. will be closing a portion of Alakea Street between Hotel Street and Beretania Street for utility connections to a new building, starting on SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, from 7:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., Sunday to Thursday.  During the utility connections, three lanes of Alakea Street will be closed.

Grace Pacific LLC will be conducting construction work for the Makaha Bridges. The Makaha Beach terminus located at Farrington Highway and Makaha Beach Park (stop #578) will be relocated to Farrington Highway and Upena Street [West] (stop #604), starting on WEDNESDAY, FEBRUARY 16, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.

Eastbound:    TheBus will travel the regular route to Kuntz/Hickam Car Wash, U-turn at the Hickam Car Wash, continue on Kuntz, right O’Malley, take exit 92 EAST “AIRPORT” onto Nimitz, and then resume the regular route after crossing Elliott.

Westbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Nimitz/Elliott, continue on Nimitz, take exit 92 WEST “JOINT BASE PHH”, veer to the far left lanes to Hickam Main Gate, right access ramp to Kuntz, continue on Kuntz, U-turn at the Hickam Car Wash, and then resume the regular route.
