TRAFFIC ADVISORY - KONA IKI STREET CLOSURE 

BROOKFIELD PROPERTIES will be conducting an underground inspection of a sewage pump located on Kona Iki Street. Therefore, all lanes of Kona Iki Street, between Kapiolani Boulevard and Kona Street, will be closed on TUESDAY, MARCH 21, 2023, from 9:00 p.m. to 1:00 a.m.  All traffic to Ala Moana Center will be detoured onto Piikoi Street and Keeaumoku Street.

FULL CLOSURE TO FARRINGTON HIGHWAY AT MAKAHA BRIDGE NO.3 

The Hawaii Department of Transportation (HDOT) will be doing a full closure of Farrington Highway in both directions, between Makaha Valley Road and Kili Drive, for the construction of the permanent abutment to the Makaha Bridge No. 3. The closure will be starting from 8:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., on TUESDAY, MARCH 21, 2023.  During closure hours, all traffic through the area will be detoured at Makaha Valley Road and Kili Drive.

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel from the temporary terminus, continue on Farrington, and then  resume the regular route. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Farrington/Upena [East], left Upena, right Widemann, right Upena, right Farrington, and then travel to the temporary terminus at Farrington/Upena [West] (Stop #604).

 


DILLINGHAM BOULEVARD OFF-RAMP CLOSURE

 

With ongoing rail work at the Middle Street Rail Station, there will be a full eastbound closure to the Dillingham Boulevard off-ramp, from 8:00 p.m. to 4:00 a.m., Sundays through Thursdays, starting on THURSDAY, FEBRUARY 23, 2023, THROUGH THURSDAY, MARCH 23, 2023. All eastbound traffic from the H-1 Freeway will be diverted onto Middle Street, and the ramp access to Dillingham Boulevard via Nimitz Highway, will be diverted to Nimitz Highway.  TheBus will service any stops along the detour route.

ROUTE 61, KALIHI-KANEOHE-AIKAHI

Eastbound:    TheBus will travel the regular route from Kalihi Transit Center, left Middle, right Kamehameha, onto Nimitz, left Ahua, left Nimitz, continue on Nimitz, left Puuhale, right Dillingham, and then resume the regular route. 

Westbound:   No detour.

 


KALAHEO AVENUE AND KAILUA ROAD ROUNDABOUT IMPROVEMENTS

KIEWIT INFRASTRUCTURE WEST CO. will be continuing construction improvements to the Kalaheo Avenue and Kailua Road roundabout. The portion of Kalaheo Avenue at the roundabout will be closed, 24 HOURS A DAY / 7 DAYS A WEEK, starting from MONDAY, JANUARY 23, 2023, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. Throughout the duration of the work, all traffic heading both directions on Kailua Road will be detoured through Kuukama Street via Kainalu Drive. As a result, the bus route will be affected and will incur traffic delays throughout the work area. TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR – HICKAM KUNTZ GATE CLOSURE 

In an effort to preserve the availability and capabilities of security forces, and reduce traffic to and from the base, operations will be reduced at the JOINT BASE PEARL HARBOR - HICKAM KUNTZ GATE.  Buses will be detoured weekdays from 6:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. and all day on weekends, starting on WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 11, 2023, until further notice.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

Eastbound:   TheBus will travel the regular route to Kuntz/Hickam Car Wash, u-turn at the Hickam Car Wash, continue on Kuntz, right O’Malley, take exit 92 EAST “AIRPORT” onto Nimitz, and then resume the regular route after crossing Elliott. 

Westbound:  TheBus will travel the regular route to Nimitz/Elliott, continue on Nimitz, take exit 92 WEST “JOINT BASE PHH”, veer to the far left lanes to Hickam Main Gate, right access ramp to Kuntz, continue on Kuntz, u-turn at the Hickam Car Wash, and then resume the regular route. 

 


ROUTE E DETOUR

The Hawaiʻi Department of Transportation (HDOT) has restricted the right turn from Ala Moana Boulevard westbound, onto Kamakee Street, at Ala Moana Boulevard / Kamakee Street intersection starting on, WEDNESDAY, JANUARY 4, 2023, until further notice. Route E will be detoured onto Kamakee Street via Queen Street and Auahi Street westbound only.

NAN INC. will be conducting utility relocation work along Mokauea Street, between Eluwene Street and Hau Street, from 7:00 p.m. to 5:00 a.m., Mondays through Fridays, starting on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE.  TheBus will service all bus stops along the detour route.

KALAHEO AVENUE AND KAILUA ROAD ROUNDABOUT
IMPROVEMENTS

KIEWIT INFRASTRUCTURE WEST CO. will be conducting construction improvements to the Kalaheo Avenue and Kailua Road roundabout. Therefore, a portion of Kalaheo Avenue to Lihiwai Road will be closed, 24 HOURS A DAY / 7 DAYS A WEEK, starting on TUESDAY, DECEMBER 27, 2022, THROUGH SUNDAY, JANUARY 8, 2023.  Throughout the duration of the work, all eastbound traffic to the Lanikai community will be detoured through Kailua Beach Park. TRAFFIC ADVISORY – HEEIA STREAM BRIDGE STREET LIGHT IMPROVEMENTS 

The City and County of Honolulu’s Department of Design and Construction (DDC) will be conducting upgrades to the Heʻeia Stream Bridge. The construction work will start at 8:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m., Monday through Friday, on OCTOBER 25, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE. The work crews will begin making modifications to the bridge to install new streetlights. The roadway will remain open during the construction work.

ADVISORY – UTILITY WORK ON ALAKEA STREET

Hawaiian Dredging Construction Company, Inc. will be closing a portion of Alakea Street between Hotel Street and Beretania Street for utility connections to a new building, starting on SUNDAY, APRIL 17, 2022, UNTIL FURTHER NOTICE, from 7:00 p.m. to 4:30 a.m., Sunday to Thursday.  During the utility connections, three lanes of Alakea Street will be closed.
